Cornerstone Preparatory Academy
The Cornerstone Preparatory Academy (CPA) is a unique educational University-Model® school, which is designed to bring together the best attributes of traditional public and private schools as well as independent study and integrate them into one model. They first opened their doors in August 2004. The school was so successful CPA found it needed a much larger space. They decided on a location off Hickory Grove Road in Acworth, Georgia.
Signs and More, Inc. is a full-service custom sign, banner and vehicle graphics manufacturing company in metro Atlanta. “We can satisfy all indoor and outdoor signage needs.” That was never more accurate than on the CPA project. After the architectural plans were finalized, our team at Signs and More, Inc. met with R Design Works of Kennesaw, GA and CCL Associates of Roswell, GA to review drawings, specs, logos, colors and material. Coming in on this project in the early stages was a real treat for us. We embraced the craftsman style look and feel of this newly designed campus in our signs, coming in well under CPA’s signage budget.
From the blueprints, we developed a list of signs that would be needed for the interior and exterior. This list included the signs CPA knew they needed and the ones they didn’t know they needed (i.e. ADA Signs* and Evacuation Plans). The campus is located in a residential community. Our designers took into account all the zoning compliance rules, creating unique signage that fit in the scheme of the community as well. Once the designs were complete, we created a design board and presented to the client. They loved it!
From start to final installation, the process took about 7 months. Signs and More, Inc. handled all aspects of the signage process down to permitting and fire marshal approvals. Our team of installers worked around the weather to get the signage in place once manufacturing was complete and the new building was ready to accept signs. The monument sign was made from synthetic stucco with a block & stone base. This impressive sign is the first sign you see from the street. It was designed to match the roof pitch and the craftsman style columns on the front entrance. We matched the color scheme to the building exterior down to using the same stones. The stucco top was trucked to the location, lifted and secured to the stone base which was crafted on-site.
The watermarked ADA signs* were a lot of fun to create for this project. It was one of the items CPA didn’t know they needed. These signs were digitally printed on clear matte acrylic with tactile lettering & Braille. Two different sign backgrounds were developed to designate different hallways and offices. These signs were printed with a watermarked logo and the school mascot 2nd surface to add depth and dimension.
We created a 4’ x 18’ front entrance sign and 2 smaller 2’ x 9’ breezeway & side entrance signs for the exterior of the school. All three signs were routed and painted on HDU to match the school colors with custom made black aluminum frames. The sign turned out exactly how the owners had envisioned it (matching the proofs).
The wayfinding signs are routed & painted PVC signs. They hang above their designated hallway.
Fire Signage is an extremely important part of any signage package in new or existing buildings. Our designers created the 35 emergency evacuation path map signs for the school. Once the signs were designed, Signs and More had the plans approved by the Fire Marshall prior to manufacturing. Other miscellaneous signs were created for the school, including a 4’ x 6’ Good Sportsmanship Sign, 30” 3 dimensional letters on the outside of the gym and wall graphics.
