Cost of Labor in a Sign Project - Signs & More, Inc

Have you ever wondered what determines the cost of labor in a sign price?  Sometimes the labor cost can be as much or even more than the sign itself. Let’s take a look at what may go into the labor of installing a sign.

1)  The size of the sign:

a)  Can one person install or will it take two or more?

b)  Will the sign require a hoist or just a ladder?

c)  What structure will support the weight of the sign?

d)  Is the sign within the area’s Sign Ordinance Regulations?

2)  The location of installation:

a)  Is the sign going on a flat surface?

b)  Is the surface stucco or brick?

c)  Is the location on top of the building or roof?

d)  How far is the job from the sign shop?

3)  The equipment needed:

a)  Will the installation require a bucket and or crane truck?

b)  Does the installation require a ladder?

c)  Does the sign require electricity?

d)  What other tools will be needed? (Drill, hammer, level, specialty tools, etc…)

4)  Manpower:

a)  Will the job require a great deal of experience? (such as vehicle wrap)

b)  Will there need to be additional labor other than the installer? (such as brick layers for a monument sign, experienced carpenter or licensed electrician)

c)  How many workers will be required for the installation?
