If you have wall space in your lobby and you do not have your logo on prominent display, you are missing a great opportunity to promote your company.  The “wall displayed logo” is one of the most impressive signs you can present to the public.  When someone walks into your lobby they will have no doubt they are in the right place.

Due to the fact that the lobby sign is indoors and out of the weather elements, the design department has the use of many different types of materials.  Let us look at what these materials are and what quality they bring to the project.

Dimensional Letters:  These letters are molded from acrylic or cut from PVC, metal, wood or solid acrylic.   They can be applied directly to the wall or a sheet of clear acrylic with standoffs to give the lettering or logo more depth.

Gatorfoam:  This is foam that has a hard, smooth surface that can be painted any color or laminated.  This material is light weight yet very dense making it easy to cut and create with.

Sintra:  This material is very similar to PVC foam board but with a closed cell design.  It is light weight yet very easy to cut allowing for intricate logo work.

Acrylic Laminate:  Acrylic is a thin sheet laminated to either Gatorfoam or PVC for added depth.  Use clear acrylic over a colored material to give your logo much more pizazz.

Metal Laminate:  For a richer and more expensive look.  This laminate allows the cost to be much less than metal with the very same effect.  A thin sheet of aluminum (brushed or shiny) is glued to a foam or PVC base.  The edges are often painted to match the metal giving the effect of a solid piece or metal.

Solid Metal:  Richest look with cut or cast metal letters and/or shapes.  Aluminum, brass, bronze, etc. – clear coated or painted.

Sign Foam:  HDU (high density urethane) is high density closed cell foam that is very easy to cut and paint.  This material is one of the easiest to work with.  It can be cut and shaped to give a very realistic wood grain.

3-D Routing:  Many of the materials mentioned can be routed and shaped to create any logo the design department can imagine.
