I would like to market my company at Trade Shows/Street Fairs...Where Do I Start?
It might seem overwhelming to begin the process of gathering everything you need to do a Trade Show. Remember that tablecloths, literature stands, lights, pop-up displays, banners and samples of your work are all important tools for Trade Show/Street Fair effectiveness!
You need to stand out in the crowd of maybe hundreds of vendors and grab the attention of the people who are passing by. You need to give them a reason to STOP to talk to you!

Of course, all of your items need to fit in your car or van and be easily transported to your booth area. Whether you have retractable banner stands, a pop-up tent or a pop-up display, make sure you think about how to keep it safe while in storage or during transit. You also need to consider how you are going to get some potentially very heavy items to your booth area. You want to double check that your display items come in a case with straps, or for larger display pieces...wheels!
Don't make the mistake of letting your exhibit get lost in a dark corner, if inside or not shining brightly in a location with low light. Lights will heighten your visibility! Of course, don't forget your extension cord and to ask for electricity.
Have some kind of stand to place your contact information. You all have "mini" signs...they are called business cards - have something to place them in along with any other promotional items that you wish to display. It is much easier to see and find an item that is standing up than one lying flat on the table. Remember, if you are outside, you have to contend with the wind and inside and out, you want your items to look neat and organized. There are many styles to choose from - from a simple acrylic stand for your tabletop all the way to a display that can handle a lot of literature. If you choose the larger kind, you will want to make sure it will collapse and store easily when the show is over.
We all see those flag signs along the sides of the road. They are called bow flags. They move in the wind, and they are useful in capturing our attention. They would also be effective at a Trade Show or Street Fair for the same reason. They are sometimes called teardrop or feather flags. The different names evoke a basic image of the shape of the flag.
